The Acorn bird feeder has several important advantages for the bird watching and feeding enthusiast:

  • The roofs are sealed with aquarium grade silicone.
  • The easy-fill chimney caps remove to accept a standard plastic gallon jug. See here
  • The chimney caps have air-flow channels which provide continual ventilation of the seed chambers to prevent mold and spoilage.
  • The removable seed regulators control the amount of seed dispensed. The Selkirk Rancher has two seed chambers, so you can use the regulators on one chamber and feed thistle or other expensive seed, while feeding sunflower seeds (or other loose seed) through the second chamber. Utilizing the seed regulators on the other models (all with single seed chambers) allows you to choose the type of seed you want to use depending on the time of year and the particular birds you want to attract.
  • Our feeder is completely repairable. If anything should ever damage the feeder, replacement parts are available.
  • The wooden perches are bird friendly.
  • The large seed platform feeds quail, finches, gross beaks, woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees and more.
